An international authority on organizational leadership, Bill Pasmore joined the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®) in 2008 as organizational practice leader, guiding efforts to help clients develop the larger organizational leadership systems that increase their overall performance and enable their leaders to thrive. He was a partner for 11 years in the corporate learning and organizational development practice of consulting firm Oliver Wyman Delta. There, he headed the global research practice, working with top executives of Fortune 500 companies on organizational architecture and development, succession planning, talent management and strategic planning. From 1976 to 1997, Pasmore was a tenured full professor in the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, teaching courses in the MBA, Executive MBA, Ph.D. and Executive Ph.D. programs. He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering/Industrial Management and a Ph.D. in Administrative Sciences from Purdue University in Indiana.

As Senior Program Associate for the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL^®), John McGuire focuses on organization-wide change through leadership. He is the research and development practice leader for CCL’s Change Leadership team, practicing organization-culture transformation by balancing change management with change leadership. He co-authored the recently published book, Transforming Your Leadership Culture, a practical guide to help leaders decide what change is feasible. A key tenet of John’s results-oriented work is assisting clients in overriding the high failure rates in change management by connecting leadership across organizations. His diverse work history includes senior business management positions in corporate settings, a leadership and organizational development consulting business and a practice in counseling psychology. He holds master’s degrees from Harvard and Brandeis Universities and has received numerous excellence awards for his service in corporate, public and nonprofit institutions.

Roland Smith is a Senior Faculty member and Lead Researcher at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL^®), where he is a member of the Global Organizational Leadership Development practice group. Before joining CCL, he co-founded a national consulting firm specializing in organizational performance and talent management. Prior to that, he was president of an HR consultancy, which he helped transform from a mature regional business into a successful national enterprise with over 1,000 members and clients. In his earlier career, Roland served on the faculty at the University of Idaho, where he directed the Quality Learning Project, focusing on such issues as organizational and individual learning, competency identification, leadership and human resources. Lead researcher for the Senior Executive Research Initiative and the Global Institute for Talent Sustainability, Roland earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s in instructional/performance technology from Boise State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Idaho.

Edward Marshall joined the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL^®) in August 2009 as a Senior Partner on the Organizational Leadership Team. His career spans 30 years as a leadership development and organizational change management expert, who is best known for his groundbreaking work in collaboration. This work earned him the prestigious “Excellence in Organization Development Award” from the American Society for Training and Development. His Collaborative Method^® is a recognized best practice. He has authored two best-selling business books, Transforming the Way We Work and Building Trust at the Speed of Change. As an executive coach and change consultant, Edward has worked with more than 500 senior executives and facilitated over 250 change projects involving hundreds of teams. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Claremont McKenna College, an MPA from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Chris Ernst is a Senior Enterprise Associate in Research, Innovation and Product Development at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL^®), where his work has centered on developing collaborative, boundary-spanning leadership capabilities for individuals, organizations and broader communities. He works in CCL’s Organizational Leadership practice, supporting organizations in accelerating strategic change by bridging individual and organizational development. He previously served as research director, Asia-Pacific and was responsible for starting up CCL’s research and innovation group in Singapore. Most recently, Chris co-directed a five-continent research program designed to develop new knowledge in leading across boundaries in nonprofits, community and corporate settings. As a researcher, he frequently writes articles, book chapters and reports and has co-authored two books. As a practitioner, he manages and leads multicultural teams and designs and facilitates leadership interventions. He earned his Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from North Carolina State University.

Harold Scharlatt is the Portfolio Manager for groups, teams and organizations at the Center for Creative Leadership®), where he also has served as a Faculty Team Leader and Senior Enterprise Associate. He has done leadership consulting, presented skill development workshops, led management simulations and provided executive coaching in 16 countries. He also has presented at the national conferences of the American Society for Training and Development, the Association for Quality and Participation and the National Society for Performance and Instruction. Before joining CCL, Harold was president of a Lexington, KY, consulting firm, and had been vice president of a New York City consulting group and a full time internal consultant for a Fortune 50 company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences and a master’s in Education from the State University of New York. He also has an advanced certificate in administration and supervision from Oxford University.

Charles “Chuck” Palus is a senior enterprise associate in Research, Innovation and Product Development at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®). His research on interdependent leadership creates new knowledge and innovations for CCL’s Organization Leadership Development practice. He co-authored the award-winning book The Leader’s Edge: Six Creative Competencies for Navigating Complex Challenges, and co-invented the Visual Explorer™ and the Leadership Metaphor Explorer™, tools that facilitate creative dialogue. Chuck is widely published on leadership, with articles and chapters in the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, the Consulting Psychology Journal, the Change Handbook, the CCL Handbook of Leadership Development and the CCL Handbook of Coaching. He has designed numerous programs, including the Leading Creatively Program, Facing and Solving Complex Challenges and the Action Learning Leadership Process™. He earned his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. in adult developmental psychology from Boston College.

Stephanie Trovas is portfolio manager for talent sustainability in the Center for Creative+ Leadership’s (CCL®) Organization Leadership practice. She also is an open-enrollment manager of CCL’s Looking Glass Experience (LGE) program in San Diego, CA. She has trained many other CCL programs including the Leadership Development Program and Leadership Development for Human Resource Professionals. As a faculty member, she writes and researches extensively on the topic of leadership and is presently engaged in research that examines generational differences and similarities in leadership development. With more than 15 years in the training and development field, Stephanie has worked with organizations in a host of industries and countries and is a certified CCL coach. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the Colorado College and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado.

In the Center for Creative Leadership’s (CCL®) Organization Leadership practice, Laura Quinn is portfolio manager for strategy and culture. She also is the program manager and lead trainer for the Center’s Developing the Strategic Leader program. She trains in the Leadership at the Peak program and is an executive coach. As CCL’s subject matter expert on sustainability and corporate social responsibility, Laura manages the research relating to this topic. She has gained international exposure by helping global organizations integrate leadership, strategy and culture with sustainable business practices. Laura’s most recent work includes research and program development with the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative. She holds a B.A. in business and an M.A. in communication from the University of Colorado. She earned a Ph.D. in organizational communication and leadership from the University of Texas at Austin.
